Former UK Big Brother contestant and budding TV presenter Makosi Musambasi donated sanitary ware to victims of Tokwe Mukosi floods over the weekend.
Makosi, who is the brain behind the television show Makosi Today, paid a visit to the victims who are sheltered at Chingwizi Transit Camp, where she made the donation.
"It's important for people who can help to physically go to Tokwe Mukosi.
"The situation on the ground is actually overwhelming. More than 3 000 families are living in tents. The help is, indeed, needed. The welfare of women is very important to me and that is why I went with sanitary towels and cotton wool because I know how important that is to a woman. The women at Tokwe Mukosi need that; they are not forgotten," she said.
Deputy district administrator Elisa Chauke said she was grateful for the donation as it would go a long way in alleviating the plight of women at the camp.
"The sanitary ware are like a loaf of bread to women. They are very important to the girls in this camp. I hope many people will emulate the gesture by Makosi to help the needy here. The situation is not yet stable," she said.
Makosi Today airs on ZBC tv every Monday and she has already interviewed guests like Big Brother star Munya Chidzonga, singer Roki Josphats, footballer Peter Ndlovu, businessperson Rudo Boka, Tourism minister Walter Mzembi, Nigerian football coach Stephen Keshi and Nigerian actor, Alex Usifo Omiagbo.
