Zanu PF legislator Mandi Chimene this week revealed before fellow parliamentarians that she spurned love proposals from MDC-T Harare Central MP Murisi Zwizwai.

Chimene had stood up to defend Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa who was under fire for breaching Parliament's Standing Rules and Orders and the Constitution when he attempted to smuggle in a supplementary budget as part of his Mid-Term Fiscal Policy Statement announced last week.

She said when Chinamasa brought the policy review statement; the MDC-T MPs did not raise any point of order.

Zwizwai interjected saying Chimene had been drinking at the bar, resulting in Chimene labelling Zwizwai "a hooligan".

"There was a ruling made by Mr. Speaker and you were not in the House, wanga uri kubhawa (you were in the bar)," charged Zwizwai.

Chimene fired back, "I would want the hon. member Zwizwai to know that I am also a hooligan, so, Hon. Zwizwai is a hooligan, I do not entertain that, he should not do that in this House; he should stand up and raise a point of order.

"He must know that we are going to divide the House. We will divide the House." Zwizwai appealed to Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda saying, "On a point of order Mr. Speaker. Mr. Speaker Sir, we do not expect an hon. member in the stature of Hon. Chimene to refer to herself as a hooligan, it is unparliamentary"

Chimente interjected saying, "Nokuti ndakakuramba (because I spurned your love proposals).

The two were asked to withdraw their unparliamentary statements, which they did but Chimene insisted, "Mr. Speaker Sir, I withdraw asi zvekumuramba ichokwadi (about me spurning his proposal is true."
