Chitungwiza seeks city status

Chitungwiza is looking to attain city status by 2018 town clerk George Makunde has said.
Makunde told stakeholders during a consultative meeting on the town's strategic plan on Tuesday that the dormitory town had plans to attain city status through the Build Own Operate Transfer strategic partnership.
Makunde said government has finally given the nod to Chitungwiza to take over Dunnotar, Bramaer, Longlands farms.
The cash-strapped council is now seeking partners to service and build houses under the Build own operate, transfer system to beef up revenues inflows.
The plans come as council employees have gone for more than a year without salaries.
