Zimbabwe ready to host diamond expo

Zimbabwe is ready to host a bigger diamond sale expected to benefit various downstream industries.

Lovemore Kurotwi, the chairman of the Zimbabwe Diamond Centre, said yesterday the country has been losing a lot of money through external diamond auctions, hence the need to conduct sales locally.

He said they are ready to host the world in Zimbabwe and they are making sure that they attract the highest level buyers in the industry and they can only do that when they provide the best facilities in the world.

Zimbabwe is expected to hold a local diamond sale next month.

Kurotwi said the country had invited various diamond players to participate in the local diamond sale and the World Trade Investment Network from India has confirmed to be their partner in India for the local diamond centre.

According to their confirmation letter, the partnership will identify ways that the Zimbabwe-India engagement will lead to the strategic goals of value addition in Zimbabwe and will offer new opportunities for India diamond business.
