HARARE – A soldier Jona Rufaro denied paternity of two minor children at the Civil Court yesterday, accusing his ex-wife of having extra-marital affairs during the subsistence of their marriage.
Rufaro who was taken to court by Forget Magurira who was claiming $100 per month for the upkeep of the two children said he was reluctant to pay for the upkeep of the children until they undergo paternity tests.
Magurira told the Court that Rufaro ran away from their matrimonial home with all her clothes and was refusing to give them back.
In response, Rufaro denied being the father of the two children and offered to pay $70 per month for the two minor children pending paternity tests.
"I don't think the first child is mine because she gave birth to him six months after we started sleeping together which clearly indicates that she was already pregnant," he said.
Rufaro said he was prepared to go for paternity tests with the children.
The Court ordered Rufaro to pay the $70 per month towards the upkeep of the two children pending paternity tests.
