A 19-year-old Emganwini man broke into his neighbour's house at midnight and demanded sex, a court heard.

Tsitsi Mpofu, 27, had just opened her bedroom window to cool off the summer heat when Liberty Chunga  stormed in and asked to be intimate with her, Bulawayo magistrate Temba Chimiso was told on Friday.

Chunga, who was charged with unlawful entry, pleaded not guilty, claiming he had consensual sex with his accuser at her home in Emganwini suburb.

"I didn't break into her house. She's the one who opened the door for me, and we slept together. I paid $40 for her services and bought beer for her. After a while, she chased me away saying that my time was up," said Chunga.

He was remanded to Thursday for judgment.

Prosecuting, Whatmore Tembo told the court that sometime last month around midnight, Mpofu spotted Chunga opening the window to her bedroom.

He said before Mpofu could react, Chunga had forced his way into the house through the window.

Tembo said Chunga approached Mpofu and demanded to have sex with  her.

The court heard that Mpofu refused and asked him to leave. Chunga, the court heard, did not leave but instead became aggressive as he bit Mpofu on her right hand. Mpofu screamed for help to no avail until she decided to put up a fight.

She grabbed Chunga's neck, pushed him away and fled her home.

She called her boyfriend who in turn asked police to go to her house.
