18 members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Veterans Association Harare province executive have passed a vote of no confidence in their chairperson Eliphas Chitera, for fanning factionalism and abuse of office.

Secretary for Information and Publicity Hilary Maphosa said the association ousted the chairman sighting a violation of 8 sections of the association's constitution including abuse of office and splitting the province.

"We have passed a vote of no confidence on Chitera. He violated paragraph 213 of our constitution," said Maphosa.

Secretary for political affairs in the province Oncemore Mahachi said while there are two war veterans' representative groups in Harare province, it is now time to unite and fight for a common goal.

"Let's unite and be one again so that we stand for and by the ideals we fought for," Mahachi said.

The Harare province wing of the war veterans had split into two with Chitera's group aligned to Jabulani Sibanda while the other one was led by Charles Mpofu.

The ouster of Chitera follows the expulsion of Jabulani Sibanda for undermining the First Family.
