The Zanu-PF Mashonaland East province interim executive committee says it has discovered banners at the provincial offices which have a picture of Vice President Dr Joice Mujuru which they say is confirmation that the province was the headquarters of factionalism.

The banners, which have the picture of Dr Mujuru on the left and the Zanu-PF party symbol to the right, were discovered in one of the offices at the provincial offices in Marondera which have since been taken over by the war veterans and the interim committee.

Also found in the offices were bandanas which were supposed to have been distributed to party supporters but were surprisingly kept in the office in a clear sign of sabotage to President Robert Mugabe.

Interim committee women's league vice chairperson Patricia Ruzawi said the discovery of the banners which surprisingly did not have the portrait of President Mugabe is an indication that the province had its own centre of power in the form of Dr Mujuru.

Meanwhile, there was drama at the Zanu-PF Mashonaland East provincial offices when provincial secretary for security Everisto-PFumvuti was manhandled by youths who accused him of having ordered their arrest when they demonstrated against the accreditation of delegates at Murehwa Centre over the weekend.

PFumvuti was only saved by the leaders of the interim committee who had to plead with the youths to let him go.
