Twelve Zanu-PF youths were arrested on Monday by police in Headlands after they had invaded four farms belonging to supporters and family members of former Minister of Presidential Affairs Didymus Mutasa.
They are expected to appear in court soon facing charges of criminal trespassing.
Zanu-PF sources said the invasions were being coordinated by the local councillor Taurai Chiripamberi, who is said to be eyeing the Headlands parliamentary seat in the event that Mutasa is recalled by Zanu-PF.
The youths occupied the farms arguing that the owners did not deserve them as they belonged to Mutasa's faction, which lost the recent power struggle.
Rusape Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa referred this paper to Manicaland Provincial police spokesperson Enoch Chishiri for comment.
As has become his norm when called by this reporter, Chishiri was not available for a comment as his cell phone continuously went unanswered.
