Acting President Emmerson Mnangagwa's wife, Auxillia will likely be declared uncontested winner of her husband's former parliamentary constituency Chirumanzi-Zibagwe in the Midlands.
Mnangagwa ceased to be legislator for the area that he has represented for almost a decade after he was appointed vice-president following the conclusion of the ruling Zanu-PF congress late last year by President Robert Mugabe.
Auxillia submitted her papers to the party's provincial elections directorate last weekend during a provincial co-ordinating committee meeting convened by Zanu-PF national political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere.
The ruling party's electoral process to choose its candidate to contest the March 27 by-election had been pencilled for this weekend but has since been abandoned after two other would be candidates chickened out the 11th hour.
