A sex-starved ex-convict shocked a packed courtroom when he said he raped a 91-year-old woman because he could not resist her shapely legs, since she was wearing a mini-skirt.
Nicholas Ndlovu, 35, of Matobo told Gwanda regional magistrate Joseph Mabeza that the elderly woman was too attractive for him to resist her.
Ndlovu was released from Khami Prison in October last year after doing time for statutory rape.
Ndlovu had the gallery in stitches when he said he did not know the woman was that old. He said the shape of her legs and the way she was dressed made him think she was younger.
He further stunned the court when he said he did not use protection because he was so aroused that he thought it did not matter.
Ndlovu was remanded in custody to tomorrow (Friday) to allow the State to check if he had previous convictions.
Prosecuting, Johannes Tlou said Ndlovu raped the woman at her homestead, where he had gone to ask for water to drink.
He said on 23 November 2014, Ndlovu followed the old woman to a kitchen where she had gone to fetch water for him.
He allegedly grabbed her by the neck from behind and threatened to kill her if she did not follow his instructions.
He allegedly forced her to lie down and raped her once.
Ndlovu allegedly told the woman that he would hunt her down at night and kill her if she told anyone.
However, the woman informed a neighbour as soon as Ndlovu left.
The pair informed Chief Masuku who assisted them to make a police report, leading to Ndlovu's arrest.
