Signal carrier Transmedia says the digitisation exercise is well on course with the organisation seized with covering the border areas with digital signals to avoid signal interference to neighbouring countries ahead of the June digitisation deadline.

The Ministry of Information, Media and Broadcasting Services which participated at the ZITF has begun raising public awareness on the migration from analogue to digital television.

Transmedia said the migration from analogue to digital broadcast systems is progressing well with the signal carrier being seized with covering the border areas to ensure there is no interference of signals to neighbouring countries.

Viewers in Bulawayo expressed optimism that the digitisation process will see an improvement in programming quality and the creation of more channels thereby bringing variety of content.

The International Telecommunications Union has set the 17 of June this year as the deadline for countries to digitise broadcasting systems.

Transmedia requires about US$30 million for the exercise.
