'I've no presidential ambitions,' says Mphoko

Vice President Phelekezela Mphoko has distanced himself from any plot to succeed President Robert Mugabe saying he does not habour ambitions to become head of state.
Vice President Mphoko was speaking in Maphisa where he had toured ARDA estates.
Mphoko told people who had gathered at ARDA Antelope Estate in Maphisa that contrary to claims that the country's vice presidents are in the race to succeed President Mugabe, he in fact does not harbour presidential ambitions.
Vice President Mphoko said he recognises and respects the party's hierarchy in the same way his predecessors did.
He commended ARDA for resuscitating operations at its Antelope Estate, saying such developments are key to boosting agricultural production .
Earlier, Cde Mpoko met local leaders and representatives of government departments and was briefed about the challenges facing the district.
Chief among the challenges are food shortages, land disputes and poor infrastructure.
