Vice President, Joice Mujuru is back home from Lusaka Zambia where she witnessed the inauguration of newly elected Zambian President, Michael Sata.
Vice President Mujuru who led a Zimbabwean delegation comprising Cabinet Ministers, Sydney Sekeramayi and Didymus Mutasa and other senior government officials was yesterday welcomed at the Harare International Airport by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicholas Goche and other senior government officials.
Mujuru says the change of government in Zambia will not affect the cordial relations that exist between the two countries as they are deeply entrenched in the liberation war history.
Joice Mujuru made the remarks after attending the swearing in ceremony for the newly elected Zambian President, Mr. Michael Sata.
She said Zimbabwe respects the will of the Zambians in choosing a leader of their choice.
Mujuru said the call for unity and peace in Zambia by Mr. Michael Sata is critical not only for Zambians but for Africa as a whole as peace and tranquility are critical for any meaningful socio-economic and political development.
Other delegates who attended the ceremony are Malawian President, Bingu Wamutharika, Botswana's President, Ian Khama, representatives of South Africa, Tanzania, DRC, Namibia and Mozambique as well as outgoing President, Rupiah Banda and Zambia's founding President, Dr Kenneth Kaunda.
Mr. Sata won the highly contested elections with 44% of the votes ahead of other nine presidential aspirants.
