An Epworth woman stabbed her boyfriend with a broken bottle before charging towards a police officer who tried to restrain her.
Sarudzai Shonhiwa, 21, of Overspill Epworth appeared before Harare regional magistrate Noel Mupeiwa charged with two counts of attempted murder.
She was remanded in custody to today for trial commencement.
The complainant is Fidelis Munjodzi, 22, of Tobacco Research Board Epworth.
Both parties are not employed.
Prosecutor Tinashe Makiya alleged that on February 21, at around 10pm Munjodzi was sitting in a friend's car that was parked at Tobela Night Club at Overspill Shopping Centre. The court heard that Shonhiwa, who recently separated with Munjodzi spotted him seated in the car and charged accusing her ex of neglecting the welfare of their two-month-old baby since their separation.
The court heard that Shonhiwa disappeared into the night club and returned later on holding a broken bottle.
Munjodzi then got out of his friend's car to evade being attacked but was grabbed by the collar before being dragged on the tarmac.
She then allegedly stabbed him with the broken bottle on the head.
Police officers stationed at the Epworth Police Station - Thulani Ncube and Raphael Ndlovu who were on duty and patrolling Overspill Shops — witnessed the incident and rushed to the scene.
The court heard that Shonhiwa then turned the bottle on Ncube and stabbed him on the shoulder as the two cops tried to save Munjodzi from further attack.
The cop sustained a cut but was not medically examined to determine the degree of injury.
