Zanu PF trusted spin doctor Professor Jonathan Moyo has strongly defended President Robert Mugabe over his Gukurahundi threats on war veterans.
In a series of tweets late Friday evening, Moyo said the 92 year old Mugabe never threatened the former liberation fighters.
Moyo claimed that his boss was merely responding to a report that some war veterans threatened bloodshed if Vice president Emerson Mnangagwa fails to succeeded Mugabe.
"Did Pres Mugabe threaten a 2nd Gukurahundi as alleged by political arsonists? NO! NO!", Moyo kicked off 10 point string of tweets seen by Bulawayo24.com.
"Pres Mugabe responded to a report that some war vets THREATENED BLOODSHED if VP Mnangagwa is not his successor!
"It's ILLEGAL for groups that ARE ARMED or ARE LINKED to ARMS to THREATEN BLOODSHED to achieve a political end!
"Pres Mugabe warned dissidents war vets on bloodshed threats but DIDN'T warn their SUPPORTERS or any CIVILIAN!
"The EVIL of Gukurahundi was the BRUTALISATION of the CIVILIAN POPULATION seen as SUPPORTERS armed DISSIDENTS!
"What's sad here is the FAILURE by SELF-RIGHTEOUS do gooders to CONDEMN threats by some war vets TO SPILL BLOOD!
"The tendency by POLITICAL ARSONISTS to ABUSE Gukurahundi for OPPORTUNISTIC political purposes is very HURTFUL to Gukurahundi VICTIMS!".
Mugabe on Thursday openly threatened a crackdown on war veterans similar to the Gukurahundi massacres accusing them of pushing for Mnangagwa to succeed him.
He labelled war veterans as dissidents.
He said, "Do we see another rise of dissident activity?
"The leadership with our experience say no for a war veterans association, it's not your function, it's not your business to talk a lot on who shall succeed the President..."
"Dissident activities cannot be allowed".
