As ZAPU 8th Peoples Congress began today, police at CID Law and Order section in Bulawayo today picked the ZAPU Youth Front outgoing Provincial Chairperson for Bulawayo Province Iphithule Maphosa for questioning over the Tuesday renaming of Robert Mugabe Way in Bulawayo to Devolution Way.

Maphosa denied responsibility for the renaming of the street. He however indicated that as a proponent of Devolution of Power, he supports whoever initiated the campaigns, even though he called for peaceful means to resolving the conflict with the government over implementation of Devolution.

The police said the youth leader is the prime suspect for the act since he leads a provincial youth wing of the party that is known for Devolution advocacy, ZAPU.

Maphosa was not formally charged but was however profiled, finger printed and photographed.

The police said they would proceed by calling should they need to further interview Maphosa.
