Zimbabwe National Roads Administration (ZINARA) board chairman Albert Mugabe says the construction of the Beitbridge-Chirundu highway will provide an opportunity for local business people to reap rewards by providing support services indirectly linked to road construction.

Addressing members of the Affirmative Action Group (AAG) at a local hotel in Chinhoyi, Mr Mugabe said 90 percent of the material to be used in the project will be sourced locally, thus giving local businesspersons a chance to supply the required resources.

He said a number of services that are not directly linked to construction will be required and these will have to be provided by locals.

AAG chief executive officer for Mashonaland West Mr Tapiwa Chikondowa called on project implementers to consider subcontracting firms in the localities where they will be operating.
