Esteemed ladies and gentlemen, it is indeed a great honor that you are gathered here today to honor the mother of our homeland’s human rights, Mama Patricia Tshabalala. Thank you everyone for coming to this prestigious Award.

Mama Patricia Tshabalala the reason that brings us here is that you are our citadel of inspiration, our beacon of hope and an embodiment of our Matebele spirit of resilience in the arena of advancing the human rights of our people and beyond.

As we speak today, you have 56 children that are under your care and guidance in life. This is no easy task.

These children look up to you as a mother, grandmother and as well a fountain of hope and a fortress of security for them. And you are excelling in this!

It is in this context Mama Patricia Tshabalala that we acknowledge you as a citadel of our hope, a beacon of our inspiration and an embodiment of our resilient and steeled Matebele spirit that keeps bobbing and weaving to survive for our posterity generations to come!

Many of us will agree that you have faced many grueling challenges in your noble human rights walk and yet you have remained an indefatigable defender of our human rights as a people.

Yours is no easy walk!

You have continued to be a Matebele voice that speaks against injustice without fear or favor!

As such, we pray that the mighty fortress of our guarding angels of Matebeleleand, our forebearers, led by His Royal Majesty King Mzilikazi Khumalo and Mambo, continue to inspire and guide you in the advancement and protection of our children’s fundamental rights and the rights of the people of Matebeleland and beyond.

Amazingly, you have done all this sterling work with an everyday glowing and a glorious smile against all odds!

You are truly made of sterner stuff!

Your work is remarkable. I therefore have the honor today to declare you our Matebeleland’s Rosa Parks.
