OF DECEPTIONS AND DIVERSIONS
Zapu is disappointed by the wanton and irresponsible statements coming from the Vice Masteress of deception, Cde Mai Mujuru on the gagging of the press regarding the rot and high salaries earned by some executive in parastatals and quasi government organisation.
This is very irresponsible seriously in bad taste coming from someone who is meant to uphold and respect the constitution.
The duty of the press is to report in a fair and credible manner. The Zanu Pf government has presided over this rot in the last 34 years and now the chickens are coming home to roast. Zanu PF cannot just wish away issues that are of paramount importance to its citizenry Mai Mujuru and her cronies have been siphoning state coffers for so many years and now it's time they were exposed. By gagging the press, Zanu PF is liable to contempt, of a constitutional requirement, "freedom of expression and freedom of media".
It is the right of the media to inform the masses of the happenings in a country, whether good or bad. ZAPU therefore warns Zanu PF to stay clear of the media. Let the media inform the people, as it's a Zimbabwean's right to access information. The nation needs answers on issues like diamonds, corruption in the security sector, salary gate, land issue, farm implements etc.
Chamakadya chapfuka. The belly of the beast must be ripped open. The country is at a standstill , the economy is dead, we are experiencing company closures, the health sector is gone to the dogs. We shall not be diverted from the real issues here it's the duty of the media to inform us on these issues.
Zapu therefore encourages investigative journalism to expose corruption and will always promote the media in this regard, in order to strengthen responsibility and accountability in the public institutions. ZAPU states that those that are found guilty of misappropriation and misuse of national revenue and plunder of natural resources should be put behind bars.
I encourage our media to push the paddle harder the rot must be exposed
