At least 60 new trucks imported by Unifreight Africa under its Swift brand have arrived at the Beitbridge Border Post, marking a major milestone in the company's planned 100-unit fleet expansion destined for Zimbabwe.

The development underscores growing investment in the country's logistics and transport sector, which continues to respond to increasing demand across domestic and regional supply chains.

Unifreight Africa chief executive officer Richie Clark said the expansion is aimed at strengthening operational capacity across both local and cross-border transport corridors.

"The expansion of our fleet by an additional 100 trucks and trailers is a strategic move aimed at meeting growing demand across local and regional corridors," Clark said.

He added that the increased fleet size will improve efficiency, reliability, and turnaround times, while positioning the company to service larger and more complex logistics contracts.

Clark noted that rising trade volumes within Southern Africa have created strong demand for expanded logistics capacity, particularly along key regional corridors.

"As trade volumes continue to rise, particularly within regional corridors, the expanded fleet enables Swift to deepen its footprint in cross-border logistics while maintaining a strong domestic focus," he said.

The additional trucks are expected to enhance Unifreight's ability to support industries such as mining, agriculture, and retail distribution, where efficient and reliable transport plays a critical role in supply chain performance.

According to the company, the fleet expansion reflects a long-term strategy focused on operational excellence and scalability.

"Ultimately, this expansion reflects our commitment to growth, operational excellence, and delivering value through the scale and flexibility needed to meet evolving market demands," Clark added.

Industry observers say the arrival of the new fleet could help ease capacity constraints within Zimbabwe's logistics sector and contribute to improved efficiency in regional trade flows.

The remaining units in the 100-truck order are expected to arrive in subsequent batches as part of the ongoing rollout.
