"We all wish to die because living a haunted life is awful...." Such is the 'prayer' of a Plumtree family that is living in fear amid reports of the homestead being terrorised by a goblin.

The suspected tokoloshi, that has identified itself as Rah, has allegedly beaten the family members and burnt down their homestead forcing the family to move out of their huts and live in the open. Reports say the goblin is on a 'burning spree' and any property it finds in the house is burnt to ashes.

Having felt satisfied and pleased with the mass destruction that it unleashed last year, The goblin reportedly disappeared for some time, only to resurface lately, and this time requesting to feast on human flesh!

"The tokoloshi disappeared last year after we approached a number of sangomas and prophets. It resurfaced last weekend and proved to be now more aggressive. It's no longer communicating with us as it used to do last year. As part of its habit, it burnt down a bedroom hut leaving all our clothes and other belongings in ashes. We got so terrified and slept in one room, but it followed us and spent the whole night beating a drum in the wardrobe.," said one of the family members, Sithokozile Ndlovu.

The following day, the goblin began thrashing the children with a switch after Ndlovu tasked tasked them to move all the property out of the house. On Sunday the ruthless goblin reportedly burnt down two bedroom huts and the granary. Fear has gripped the family as they fear that Rah (the goblin) might burn the hut whilst they are asleep. To curb their fear, the family has since resorted to sleeping around the fire.

"The goblin destroyed our granary, so we don't have any food. We are now living in open air. Sometimes we just see a wire from nowhere, trying to hook our heads. The thing wants to keep us terrified every single moment," said the woman.

The Ndlovu family, which comprises of the grandmother NaNancy (89), her daughter Sithokozile (48) and four minors, has run out of ideas since the goblin always follows them where ever they go.

A villager who lives within the same village said six members of the Ndlovu family died mysteriously last year and their huts were burnt down by unseen things.

"They don't have any livestock because false prophets and traditional healers have been feasting on them but they could not kill the thing," said the neighbour.

Rah first introduced 'himself' in June 2009 when he demanded that gogo NaNancy kill her daughter as a ritual sacrifice. Some villagers allege that the Ndlovu family knows where the goblin came from but are not willing to divulge the information, which in turn makes it difficult to help the family.
