Beer thief lands in jail after breaking into shop

A 22-year-old man, Forget Sibanda, has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after breaking into a shop and stealing beer, which he proceeded to drink with his friends.
The incident was brought to light at the Plumtree Magistrates' Court yesterday, where Sibanda appeared before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware for sentencing.
According to Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, Sibanda forced open the shop's door on November 13 using a metal object. Once inside, he stole beer and groceries valued at $100.
Instead of leaving the premises, Sibanda reportedly shared the stolen beer with his friends and consumed some of it inside the shop.
The theft was discovered, and a police report was filed, leading to Sibanda's arrest.
