A VICTORIA Falls sports bar pub bouncer has been arraigned before the courts for assaulting patrons, one of them a soldier. Sabelo Ncube, 29, of Chinotimba suburb who is employed at Chinotimba Sports Bar as a bouncer was convicted on his own plea of guilty to three counts of assault by Victoria Falls magistrate, Sharon Rosemani.
On the first count, he was fined $80 or eight weeks imprisonment while on the second count he was fined $100 or 10 weeks imprisonment.
On the third count, Ncube was sentenced to two months which were wholly suspended on condition that he completes 70 hours of community service at ZRP Victoria Falls.
In trying to buy his freedom, Ncube, said the complainants Prince Gumbo, Kudzai Makarutsa and Lawrence Mpala were a nuisance at his workplace which resulted in him beating them up.
"Please forgive me. I did this because I was at work. I know I wronged them but they were causing disturbances. Makarutse and Gumbo broke some beer bottles and I ordered them to pick the pieces but they refused. I told them to leave and once again they refused and I pushed them out," said Ncube.
He told the court that he did not intend to harm the three complainants as he only pushed them out of the bar because they were being violent.
Prosecuting, David Tivakudze said Gumbo, a soldier, lost a tooth in the process after being assaulted by Ncube.
He said Ncube accused Mpala of stealing some beer as he head-butted him.
A report was made to the police, leading to Ncube's arrest.
