Debate over plans to establish a zoo under the guise of an amusement park in Victoria Falls continues to rage on with some sections roundly condemning the idea while others feel it is a game changer for the resort town.

The government is still to confirm who approved the allocation with the ministry of environment, water and climate who are the custodians of wildlife referring the matter to the tourism and hospitality industry ministry.

During a radio programme 'Morning Grill' on ZBC's Spot FM this Tuesday, Africa Albida Tourism Chairman, Mr Dave Glynn insisted that the Santonga project was approved at government level but could not be drawn into disclosing the particular person or department.

The issue has generated a lot of debate on social, print and electronic media and ZBC's SFM presenter and talk show host, Valentine Mabhugu confirmed that phones were blazing during the programme as people were itching to contribute.

Tourism executive, Mr Clement Mukwasi, who was part of the programme later told the ZBC News that the construction of the zoo will take the wilderness feel of the Victoria Falls and fuel human-animal conflict.

Government arms, which are the custodians of wildlife and tourism, are distancing themselves and refusing to comment on the matter.

The Environment, Water and Climate Permanent Secretary, Mr Prince Mupazviriho has referred the matter to national parks which referred the matter back to the parent ministry.

The ZBC News crew was further referred to the Tourism and Hospitality Industry Permanent Secretary, Mrs Florence Nhekairo who said Minister Walter Mzembi is better placed to answer.

The ministers were attending cabinet.

The amusement park whose main feature will be a zoo is going to be constructed on an 80 acre animal corridor between Victoria Falls lodge and the crocodile farm.
