A 23-YEAR-OLD man from Dombodema area in Bulilima allegedly raped his two daughters aged seven months and eight years on several occasions, a court heard.
The abuse on the eight-year-old girl, who is the man's step daughter, has been going on for the past two years without the knowledge of their mother. The man later went on to abuse his biological daughter.
It is alleged the man committed the crimes in his wife's absence and would warn the two minor children against reporting the abuse.
The man, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his victims, would rape his step-daughter first before going on to rape his seven-month daughter. He appeared on initial remand before Plumtree magistrate, Livard Philemon, this week facing two counts of rape.
He was remanded in custody to Friday.
Prosecuting, Elisha Mazorodze said the abuse came to light last month after the children's mother observed some behavioural changes.
He said the man's stepdaughter revealed that her stepfather would take turns to fondle her and her young sister before raping them while their mother was out performing household chores.
In another incident, a 34-year-old man from Mbimba Village allegedly raped his neighbour while in her kitchen hut.
The crime was allegedly committed while the victim's four-year-old daughter watched.
Clement Ndlovu, who appeared on initial remand facing rape charges, was remanded in custody to Friday by Plumtree magistrate, Gideon Ruvetsa.
Ndlovu arrived unannounced at around 9AM on May 11 and found the victim in her kitchen hut preparing some food while her daughter was playing outside, it is alleged. He closed the kitchen door and raped the woman once.
Mazorodze said the child heard her mother screaming and when she rushed to the kitchen hut, found Ndlovu raping her. Neighbour, Soneni Ndlovu, also caught Ndlovu in the act.
