Man in trouble for assaulting a fellow villager for breaking into school garden

Two men from Chief Ndube's area in Filabusi is in trouble after they flogged a fellow villager with an axe handle accusing him of breaking into the school garden.
Dennis Dube (47) and Ernest Mhlanga (42) pleaded guilty to the assault charge when they appeared before Filabusi Magistrate Mzingaye Moyo.
The magistrate convicted and fined them $100 with an option of 30 days in jail.
The court heard that on September 28 2015 at 10am the complainant Gerald Mhlanga (19) met the two who told him that they had seen his slippers prints in the school garden and started assaulting him with axe handle all over his body and hands accusing him of stealing the carrots from the garden.
The complainant sustained injuries on the hands and was taken to hospital for treatment.
A report made to the police led to the two's arrest.
