Mthwakazi Liberation Front has said the commemorations at the Gadade area where a serious war erupted between Ndebele army and the white Colonial settlers in 1893.

Gadade is one of the most significant battles of the time in which the gallant warriors of Mthwakazi fought to preserve the balance of power that had been in existence since the establishment of the Mthwakazi State.

MLF said as Mthwakazi draw near the Gadade commemorations this year, they ought to be conscious enough about the whole cause of the occasion.

MLF spokesperson Ndabezinhle Fuyane said this should draw back their memories of Mthwakazi historical values.

"The people of Zimbabwe commemorate theirs in August so we do this, this time of the year. Mthwakazi people at this level should be reminded that this is just a stepping stone. In the past these memorial occasions will not take place because of the oppression by this government," Fuyane said.

"The significance of our fallen warriors and heroes to free this land from the white colonial era is vital. This ZANU PF colonial regime must come to an end."

He said Mthwakazi people should be reminded of their superiority which they undermine because of being fooled by Zanu PF government.

"There is a need for Gukurahundi day that will inspire Mthwakazi people into getting in the serious business of the restoration agenda," Fuyane said.  "We mustn't let our history die a silent and painful death. Let us take the yoke ahead of us and emulate our ancestors bearing in mind the great works they ever did."
