We don't need a foreign coach

27 Jan 2017 at 15:18hrs | Views
To my fellow country men, soccer fans and analysts, to say that the warriors shamed us is an understatement. And for Sunday Chidzambwa to suggest we hire a foreign coach is an embarrassment bordering on lack of self confidence considering that no foreign coach ever took us anywhere.

My post-mortem regards shameful display by our overrated warriors is simple and straight forward. We all saw it coming, nurtured it only to blame the result. Guys truth is our warriors aren't patriotic and committed to the national cause like the flying elephant, Peter Ndhlovu, the late Benjamin Konjera, Francis Shonayi...r.i.p guys. Instead we have a bunch of mercenaries masquerading as warriors under an average coach who cannot influence but is influenced by the overrated greedy and undisciplined players in a country where match fixing has found its roots.

We need a no nonsense coach, a disciplinarian like Rahman Gumbo, Norman Mapeza and even Mhofu. We can't afford a scenario, where instead of a player being in camp is busy boozing with various hookers and expect to do wonders at such tournaments. I remember Peter flying straight from England to come and score goals, the fighting spirit of Konjera, the wizardery of Vitalis, the rockness of Francis and Alexander. Great soccer heroes not this garbage.
