Zanu PF 'voodoo economics' have failed - just as MDC failed in all during GNU

Tendai Biti gave a sterling performance in his attack of the Zanu PF government on Violet Gonda's Hot Seat. He did not fool me!
Tendai Biti and his MDC friends' primary task in the GNU was to implement the democratic reforms designed to stop Zanu PF rigging elections and thus end the corrupt and tyrannical Zanu PF dictatorship. They had everything needed to complete the task; the golden opportunity - SADC forced Mugabe to sign the GPA agreeing to a raft of democratic reforms. They had the opportunity - MDC had the majority in cabinet and parliament and SADC's support. They had all the time in the world - the GNU was chalked to last 18 months in the end it lasted 60 months, five years. Still they failed to get even one reform implemented. Not one!
Instead of implementing the reforms Biti & co. wasted the time praising the tyrant to the high heavens.
"Mugabe is the fountain of wisdom. He is the unflappable father of the nation," said Biti. Yeah right!
Tsvangirai had accused Mugabe "declaring war on the people" as recent as 2008 when the tyrant's vote rigging tricks went into overdrive in a desperate effort to retain power in that year's elections. He murdered over 500 MDC supporters to say nothing of the over 20 000 Gukurahundi victims he murdered in 1980s! How quickly Biti has forgotten!
As soon as Mugabe gave Biti and his MDC friends the keys to the ministerial cars and all the trappings of power that went with it they must have deleted all they knew about the tyrant and refilled their empty heads with the Great Leader bull!
It was only after Biti & co. lost their seats on the gravy train after the rigged July 2013 elections, that they had once again remember Mugabe was a corrupt and murderous tyrant. All this flip-flopping has me questioning many times in one lifetime do these Zimbabwean politicians going to claim to have a Damascene moment!
On the economic front the MDC messed up big time too!
"Well it's scandalously hopeless, it's scandalously terrible these guys have failed and Patrick Chinamasa has failed. I call it voodoo economics being practiced by these ZANU zombies and Chinamasa is the chief zombie. The biggest challenge that they have is that the economy is not producing. Output has collapsed and collapsed completely. Aggregate demand has collapsed and collapsed completely, capacity utilisation has collapsed and collapsed completely, so we are in a recession," was Biti's scathing assessment of the Zimbabwe economy.
Well the country is in a real economic mess and the sheer stupidity of the last 37 years – not just the post GNU years, as Biti with his very selective memory wants to imply- beggars belief. Zimbabweans have the misery of being the poorest in Africa when we should be some of the richest in the world!
"The biggest parallel government operations were diamonds in Chiadzwa, where ZANU placed Obert Mpofu, that grand thief, to basically circumvent diamond revenue coming to Treasury, and you and I know Mugabe admitted US$15 billion left the country," admitted Biti. See violetgonda.com for the full report.
Tendai Biti put the term "parallel government" into regular usage and some of the US$ 15 billion he is talking about disappeared during the life of the GNU. It is clear then that Tendai Biti as Minister of Finance and his MDC friends were aware of the looting taking place in Chiadzwa but did nothing to stop it.
Worse still Tendai Biti's boss MDC leader, Morgan Tsvangirai was the most senior government official who was asked to investigate the what was going on in Chiadzwa following the countless stories of wholesale looting. He reported back to parliament that there was nothing amiss.
A few weeks after the Chiadzwa visit, Tsvangirai was photographed with a lady-friend "living it" on the pool deck of Sea Cruise Ship. Those sea cruises are for those with very deep pockets, the big spenders. One thing is certain, Tsvangirai was not paying for the cruise from his Prime Minister of Zimbabwe official wages, that much is certain!
The pompous self-righteousness and hypocrisy of people like Tendai Biti is sickening. He and other MDC leaders were warned not to contest the 2013 elections with no reforms in place and they ignored the warning. David Coltart, another MDC minister in the GNU has since confessed it was greed that got the better of them.
"The worst aspect for me about the failure to agree a coalition was that both MDCs couldn't now do the obvious - withdraw from the elections," explained Senator Coltart.
"The electoral process was so flawed, so illegal, that the only logical step was to withdraw, which would compel SADC to hold Zanu PF to account. But such was the distrust between the MDC-T and MDC-N that neither could withdraw for fear that the other would remain in the elections, winning seats and giving the process credibility."
After the treasonous betrayal of the people by failing to implement the all-important democratic reforms and then allowing Mugabe to get away with rigging the 2013 elections in 2013 one would think people Biti & co. would own up for selling out and apologise. Not a chance! They are tripping over each other dragging the people into yet another flawed elections knowing the elections will be once again rigged.
They know contesting in the flawed 2013 was a disaster for the nation as the economic meltdown only got worse. Contest new year's election under the same conditions may well tip the nation over the edge into the abyss as the human suffering the country is facing is already socially and politically unsustainable. They clearly do not give a damn about the human suffering and do not appreciate the urgent need for end the country's failed autocratic and tyrannical dictatorship. All they care about is securing a seat back on the gravy train regardless of the human cost!
Well damn you Tendai Biti and your corrupt and incompetent MDC friends! You lot sold-out big time during the GNU and per se are not fit to hold public office ever again. Your sanctimonious criticism of Mugabe and Zanu PF today when you praised the regime instead of dismantling it during the GNU may fool some people but will not fool everybody!
