Coltart welcomes unification of 'doers' MDC and MDC-R

26 Nov 2014 at 07:01hrs | Views
"I am pleased to be reuniting with "doers", said David Coltart in welcoming the unification of the two breakaway MDC factions, one led by Profession Welshman Ncube of which Mr Coltart is a member and the other led by Tendai Biti and Elton Mangoma.

It is describing himself and the other members as "doers" that one has to question. How can you lot be "doers" when the last time you were in government and in a position to DO something – i.e. implement the already agreed democratic reforms - that would have set this nation on a glorious path of freedom, liberty and hope you failed to do it! The only logical reason you failed to get even one reform implemented is that you lot are incompetent, breathtakingly so!

The GPA, signed by the two MDC factions and Zanu PF with SADC as the guarantor; was, above all else, about implementing a raft of democratic reforms everyone agreed were necessary free, fair and credible national elections and thus avoid a repeat of the barbarism, mayhem and wanton violence of 2008 elections. MDC had five years to implement the democratic reforms, SADC reminded people like Mr Coltart and his "doers" colleagues repeatedly to implement the reforms, but they paid no heed. In the end not even one reform was implemented. Not one!

SADC tried to stop MDC going into the elections without the reforms but, once again, no one listed. The elections went ahead and Mugabe blatant rigged the vote landing the nation in this political and economic nightmare.

There are two basic reasons why Mr Coltart and his MDC friends failed to implement the reforms. First and foremost, Mugabe laid a honey trap for them in the form of high office and the trappings of power that made them all forget about the reforms. They were all tripping over each other in singing Mugabe's praise. Tendai Biti described Mugabe as "unflappable" and "father of the nation". Mr Coltart, during one of his overseas trip in Australia said Mugabe was "not a monster" he is often called!

Here is a corrupt and murderous tyrant who has complete destroyed the nation's once prosperous economy forcing millions into a live of abject poverty and has murdered over 30 000 innocent Zimbabwe for selfish political gain. If he is a monster then who is!?

They MDC leaders were praising Mugabe to show their gratitude for letting them on the gravy train and the good life. They were not going to do anything to upset the tyrant, their generous host. Implementing any of the democratic reforms would have sent Mugabe into a volcanic rage and hence not even one reform was implemented. Not one.

SADC leaders were scathing in their criticism Mr Coltart and his fellow MDC leaders accusing them of "enjoying themselves whilst in the GNU and forgetting why they were there!"

It is this forgetfulness that brings us to the second reason MDC leaders failed to implement the reforms. They "forgot" about the reform either because with their snouts in the trough they could not think of anything else or they believed they would win the elections even with not one reform implemented. Either reason showed just how breathtakingly incompetent they are not to have seen the folly in each position.

The consequence of MDC leaders' failure to implement the reforms was that the nation failed to end the Zanu PF dictatorship, without doubt the best chance the nation had in the last 34 years. Now the nation is once again stuck with the dictatorship with all the corruption, brutal oppression, etc. it stands for, for God only knows how long!
Mr David Coltart and his "doers" friends are regroup for one purpose and one purpose only; to win votes and get back on the gravy train and once there they will, once again, enjoy themselves and do nothing to end the Zanu PF dictatorship and the tragic human suffering it has brought.

If Mr Coltart and his friends wanted the nation to take them seriously as potential national leaders to be trusted with shaping the destiny of the country; then they must apologise for having betrayed the nation throughout the NGU years by failing to implement the democratic reforms. At the very least it will show that they finally appreciate the critical importance of the reforms as a pre-requisite to free, fair and credible elections and thus a health and functional democracy and good governance!

So far MDC leaders have proven beyond all doubt that they are breathtakingly incompetent; if that is what "doers" do then there are the kind of leaders no nation should ever trust to hold public office and it would be folly for Zimbabweans to do so, especially now when the nation has the mountain of evidence of MDC leaders' blundering incompetence!
