Why people of Tsholotsho North should vote Jona Moyo

Zimbabwe Unemployed People's Association represents the interests of the millions of Zimbabweans who need jobs and a better livelihood. As representatives of the majority of Zimbabweans that have suffered for a long time, we have learnt that the best way to achieve social or economic justice for poor members, is to find ways of achieving the best out of what we are given-make our vote count on the 10th of June. ZUPA has made a deliberate decision to highlight the reason why people of Tsholotsho North must vote Jona on 10th June 2015.

Accessible water and other key facilities make life better for children and their families. Sports, local projects create jobs for young adults. What do you call someone who stubbornly sticks to their constituency, never bothers to doubt, always thinks they can do better, and vehemently believes in big solutions even though all evidence and common way of doing things contradicts them? It's rather obvious: that somebody is a local patriot and son of the soil. I have to confess, it's rather perplexing to see ZUPA to overwhelmingly supporting Jona.

We could blame this on the fact that politics has become overly tribal but there's actually a lot to do with Jona's hard work and focus to his local constituency of Tsholotsho North, just take a look at Tsholotsho FC.  He has proven over the last years to be part of the people. When he became MP last time there was widespread fear that he would cripple future generations in Tsholotsho and make himself wealthy. Nothing of the sort happened. Perhaps even more importantly he developed the local infrastructure such as schools, hospitals, roads, university and empowering teachers by allowing innovation. The results are impressive: not only are more people from poorer areas are going to universities, but they are also more likely to attend the best institutions in other parts of the country.

The success of Jona doesn't stop with education or infrastructure improvement. The greatest untold triumph of this gallant son was the introduction of IMPI and his unapologetically declaration that the Gugurahundi issue is not a closed chapter, exposure of corruption in government institutions and condemn it clear and loud with no fear or favour. Therefore anyone who cares about the quality of education, infrastructure development, fighting corruption, free press, should support and vote Jona on the 10th of June elections in Tsholotsho North. Our support for him shouldn't come as a surprise because the impact of continued hard work both at national and local level is visible.

But the most eloquent example of how deeply Jona is occupied with the care of young people is local sports development- Yes; it's true that the youth unemployment rate has reached shocking levels in history under their government. But that happened everywhere across Africa. So the question of which person a young or old person should vote for in June 10th is a no-brainer. The last years have proven that Jona is all about pragmatic local solutions that improve the wellbeing of both young and old people. It's Jona that has the strongest case for our vote, if we only the people of Tsholotsho North open their eyes and see Jona not his party.
