Dear Minister of Police, Hon. Mr Fikile Mbalula
I m penning this communique to you with the utmost bleeding-heart as a young and humbled citizen of our beloved country, South Africa. I m not different to other young people concern about mzansi being ranked as a highest murder rates in the world, one of the highest crime rates in the world, I hope you will get time away from your busy twitter and Facebook accounts to peruse this communique.
It is so disheartening to notice that a country of a great martyrs such as Nelson Mandela and Oliver Tambo is dubbed as the "rape capital of the world".
One is actually questioning his IQ about the capacity and incompetence of Police Department in attending to this cancerous crisis
Our citizens can no longer live in safety as they constantly and with ease fall prey to the insurgencies of crime.
My siblings and other children can no longer play without fear on the streets because out there, a cold-hearted kidnapper is devouring for his or her next victim and our women can no longer walk freely on the street because out there, a perverted molester is waiting for his next victim. South Africa as compared to others such as neighbouring Botswana has become heaven for the criminals and this is bloody hell for the civilian.
In South African unlike in Botswana most every day, almost 60 people are murdered in South Africa. Around 30 people are being kidnapped. Around 242 women and children are raped and molested every day in South Africa. That is the highest in the world! In the month of may, we repeatedly had femicide killings of women which resulted to the lives of more than 60 young women and girls, including the life of the young Karabo Mokoena which sparked an outcry of protests addressing such issues. With such alarming rates at hand, we would like to know, what is the Police Ministry doing about this?
The townships have long become and still are the most unsafe places in the country and a Mecca for criminal activities, with kidnappings looming large and rape cases skyrocketing in these areas alone. In the township of Soshanguve (where I reside), we have witnessed the horrifying death of the young Karabo Mogwase who was kidnapped and went missing for months. When her body was found, it was lying dead with her genitals foeticide. We also witnessed the gruesome death of a young girl by the name of Noluthando Nkosi who was raped and killed at the age of 11. The motives of these incidents are still unclear and the criminals are still outside bars. It is so ironic how a policeman can easily gun down a student who protests for free education but are unable to catch the criminals and get justice for the victims of their heinous atrocities.
We are concerned about the crime and violence in our country hence we plead with your consciousness as our respected Minister of Police as to implement some rigorous action that will insure that the perpetrators are behind bars and acquitted for their actions. We live in a country where fraud and corruption has become a norm, both in the public and private sector, stealing billions of rands of taxpayers' money, money which could be used to address the socioeconomic conditions of our people and yet we ask, what are the police doing to get these people to jail because so far, none of the accused have received imprisonment and none of the companies involved in corruption have been outlawed from operating in the country. Even the greatest thief of all, our "glorious" President Zuma with 783 charges in his name has so far not been prosecuted for his actions.
We speak with you as humbled citizens of this country, custodians of the Rainbow Nation and we plead with you that much needs to be done to resolve these problems. Instead of police vans being used to buy groceries for personal use, let them be used to close opportunities for crime. They must be filled day-to-day with criminals and delinquents and must be instruments of decreasing the crime rate of South Africa. Instead of being used to oppress our people, they must protect our people. Policemen who are not dishonest and corrupt in their duty must be stripped off their badges, irrespective of the rank or social standing in society. Policemen who are diligent in their work must be rewarded and not constantly silenced for questioning the authority of the police department. We will honestly take matters into our hands if our grievances aren't heard and if day-by-day, our families are victims to the brutalities of crime in our communities. I speak to you with all sincerity and respect, to open a discussion for death penalty and castration of perpetrators. Honourable minister, I hoping soon that your department table a draft bill which curb this calamities.
I am really apologizing to interrupt you while reading messages in your twitter and facebooks inboxes.
