11:27, 16 Oct - +44 74** **** ****** I would like to comment on Cde Grace Mugabe's recent Meet -the- People tour of Bulawayo and Matebeleland. If the comments the First Lady made about the people of this region are true as reported in this online newspaper then it is clear that we are a hated and unwanted people. Why are we being treated like illegitimate children, abaza bezelwe or abazalelwa esibayeni sako makhelwane?
If that's the case I think it's only fair for us to be sent back to our ancestoral homeland or create a separate state. If what we read is true, surely it is sad and unfortunate that Amai Mugabe, of all the people, could come to this region and say such comments. Most of us expected a humble, down to earth Amai who would MEET the People and not CONFRONT the people.
I wonder whether something had already upset her so much that she arrived with guns blazing. The women who were seen standing and walking away while she was talking were not Angry but Hungry and Thirsty! The women were not to blame, It's the organisers.
They tried to please Amai by bringing in the poor hungry people to the stadium hours before her arrival knowing fully well that they would be there sitting in the heat without drinks. The most appropriate venue would have been the Large City Hall, I think the use of Soccer Stadia for rallies should be a thing of the past. It's not about how people one addresses but how many of those are listening and understanding what is being said. People of Matebeleland are Victims by virtue of being a minority NOT Perpetrators!
People of Matebeleland are not bad people, we are not evil,we are not lazy, not power hungry, not foolish, not uneducated, not rapists, not murders etc We are labelled and painted (using the above) because we are a minority unwanted group.
If ZANU PF leadership could stand up and say No,NO,NO NO to tribalism and develop the country equally including Matebeleland they would get every single vote in the region WHY DO I SAY SO? Because It's easier for them to turn things around, and more so it's Better the Devil you know! Itjo, tjalila, Poni? KuTitji Tja Getjenge!
