Zimbabwe set 309-run target for Kenya

NEW DELHI: Riding on Craig Ervine's innings and two other half-centuries, Zimbabwe scored 308-6 against Kenya in their last league World Cup match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
For Zimbabwe, Ervine (66) was the top scorer, with Taibu and Sibanda also getting to half-centuries.
The experienced Tatenda Taibu got out after scoring a fluent 50, who along with Vusi Sibanda shared more than 100-run partnership when chips were down for Zimbabwe after losing two wickets in successive overs.
Sibanda was run out while trying to sneak in a quick single and was stranded at the same end with Taibu.
Kenya's Nehemiah Odhiambo and Elijah Otieno struck in successive overs to give their team early breakthroughs.
First to fall was opener Regis Chakabva off Odhiambo delivery and next his partner Brendan Taylor followed. While, both the Zimbabwe openers were playing patiently and got off to a steady start.
Earlier, Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura won the toss and elected to bat against Kenya in their final group A match of the World Cup.
Zimbabwe made one change to their side, leaving out Shingrai Masakadza for Chris Mpofu.
Kenya would be captained by veteran Steve Tikolo, who is playing his final match for the team. regular skipper Jimmy Kamande is not playing this match.
Kenya have also picked Peter Ongondo, a medium-pacer, for wicketkeeper Maurice Ouma. David Obuya is likely to keep wickets for them.
