Four-time African champions TP Mazembe have made a last minute cancellation of their trip to Zimbabwe where they were to play two international friendlies in preparation for Saturday's Caf Champions League matches against Orlando Pirates.

Plans were afoot for the Congolese side to play FC Platinum and Highlanders on Saturday and Tuesday respectively but they changed their plans and remained in DRC.

In choosing to play the FC Platinum and Highlanders, TP Mazembe had considered the teams' current rich vein of form.

After logistics were at an advantage stage, sources privy to the developments said the Moise Katumbi-owned outfit promised to tour Zimbabwe later this year.

"They were supposed to stay here for five days. Everything was in place for them to come and we were just waiting for their arrival on Friday. But they called and said they were nolonger coming two days before their scheduled arrival. But of great interest was their interest co come later in the year," one source said.

TP Mazembe had chosen Zimbabwe to acclimatise to the weather conditions in neighbouring South Africa. The club's preference of setting a base camp in Zimbabwe had also been inspired by Highlanders' culture being almost similar to that of Pirates.
