HIGHLANDERS chairman Peter Dube yesterday dispelled the rumour that Kelvin Kaindu has inked a 2 year extension to his contracts, but said they were happy with their coach.

Kaindu is likely to sign a new two-year deal with Mbada Diamonds Cup winners Highlanders Football Club after his two-year contract with the Bulawayo football giants ends on December 31.

Speculation has been rife that Kaindu, who won the Mbada Diamonds Cup after beating How Mine 3-0 at Barbourfields Stadium on Saturday.

"He (Kaindu) went to Zambia yesterday (Tuesday) and like for everybody, it's time for the holidays. He is happy and we are happy and we are busy talking, but it is not true that he has signed any new contract. But I don't see us having any difficulties having positive discussions.

"People can go about with their rumours, but they should just go into Christmas and celebrate the club's success," Dube said, an indication that the Zambian mentor could be back on board next season.

Kaindu left for Zambia on Tuesday en route to the United Kingdom for his ongoing Uefa B Licence coaching course, but is expected back in the country for the club awards to be held on a date to be announced.

A highly-placed source yesterday said the technical team had already made recommendations for players they intend to bring into the club next year and those that are likely to face the axe, another pointer that Kaindu could be back with Bosso next year.

The source said Highlanders were targeting Hwange defender Erick Chipeta, Triangle's Pascal Manhanga and How Mine's Timothy January, who the coaches have already approached.

The source said FC Platinum midfielders Joel "Josta" Ngodzo and Welcome Ndiweni will be making their way to Highlanders, but Charles Sibanda, reportedly eyeing a move to the Bulawayo giants, is said to be staying in Zvishavane.

Caps United's striker Rahman Kutsanzira on Tuesday told this publication that he wanted to return to Highlanders.

According to the source, the axe is hovering over Bhekimpilo "Barca" Ncube, Bruce Tshuma, Beaven Chikaka, Knox Mutizwa and the duo of Master Masitara and Tinashe Chipunza, who had been brought in from Botswana.

Also likely to be shown the door is third choice goalkeeper Archieford Katsande while striker Cleopas "Balotelli" Dube loaned to Bulawayo Chiefs (now Plumtree Chiefs) could be returning to Highlanders.

Tough tackling former Buffaloes defender Themba Ndlovu, whose two-year deal has expired at the Mutare-based side, is also eyeing a move to the Mbada Diamonds Cup winners.

Highlanders are set to confirm new deals for Munyaradzi Diya, Bruce Kangwa, Mthulisi Maphosa, Peter Moyo, Dumisani Ndlovu, Innocent Mapuranga, Njabulo Ncube, Masimba Mambare, Milton Ncube, Ariel Sibanda and Gabriel Nyoni.
