CAPS UNITED will begin their title defence without midfielder Abbas Amidu who is recovering from injuries he sustained in an accident on Tuesday.

They face Shabanie Mine at Maglas.

The midfielder was traveling from Zvishavane when a bus he was travelling on veered off the road before overturning about 40 kilometres away from Harare.

CAPS United manager Shakespeare Chinogwenya confirmed the accident but indicated there were no fears of severe injuries.

"Doctor Sachikonye or Doc Karonga are in a better position to clarify on the injuries but from seeing him it's not as a bad as we initially feared. He was involved in an accident on Tuesday and is not training," he said.

Amidu was the hero of the CAF champions against TP Mazembe when he scored the away goal in Lubumbashi which saw the Green Machine progress to the mini league.

Makepekepe will be on the road to face Lloyd Chitembwe's former side on Sunday.

Chitembwe coached Shabanie Mine in 2007 and finished second on the log in Division One.
