Champions Caps United were thrashed 3-1 by How Mine in a Premier Soccer League match played at National Sports Stadium yesterday.
Makepekepe who had seven games in hand going into the match, had a difficult second half having managed to hold the visitors' to a 1-all draw in the first half.
Kudakwashe Musharu, Thembani Masuku and Pacsca Manhanga scored for the gold miners who moved to second place on the log standings.
Musharu could have scored as early as the 17th minute with Prosper Chigumba in goals for Caps a well beaten man but unfortunately missed.
He was back to haunt Caps United in the 19th minute when Toto Banda worked his way past the Caps United defence to feed Manhanga whoseeffort was punched for a rebound and Musharu pounced.
Makepekepe searched for an equaliser which they got through Tafadzwa Rusike after some good exchanges with Ronald Chitiyo and Abbas Amidu.
The second half saw How Mine a changed side with Makundika Sakala dictating the pace and it changed the complexion of the game altogether.
In the 65th minute Masuku finished off a good volley after some good exchanges while Manhanga sealed the deal in 82nd minute.
