Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp will go on trial in July on charges of tax evasion dating from his time in charge of Portsmouth, reports The Independent.

Redknapp and his former Portsmouth chairman, Milan Mandaric, will face charges at Southwark Crown Court in south London on allegations that Mandaric paid Redknapp a total £185,000 through a Monaco bank account. Former Pompey chief executive Peter Storrie will also be tried on unconnected charges.

Redknapp, who ended a second spell in charge of Portsmouth in 2008, is charged with two counts of cheating the public revenue of an estimated £40,000 by evading National Insurance contributions.

Redknapp and Mandaric were charged last year following an inquiry involving City of London Police and the Government's Revenue and Customs department.

All parties deny the allegations.
