Monomotapa 0 - 1 Harare City
Harare City coach Bigboy Mawiwi's boys extended their lead at the top of the log standings and will spend the rest of this week at the apex thanks to a William Manondo's 57th minute header.

The match played in front of an almost empty Rufaro Stadium yesterday was rather dull in the first half and only exploded after Manondo's goal when City seized control of the game.

The impressive Manondo capitalised on a lapse in concentration by the Monoz defence to nod home an inch perfect cross from James Madora.

The match flattered to deceive in the first half as Monoz hit the woodwork twice in the first 10 minutes but the game fizzled into a drab affair as both sides rarely made meaningful forays.

Monomotapa's midfield lacked incision largely due to the absence of kingpin, Ronald Chitiyo who is away on Warriors duty although the ever improving Praise Tonha did show some flashes of intelligence. Yet it was Monoz who could have surged ahead eight minutes after restart but Zvikomborero Biseki's close range strike was expertly thwarted by Harare City's veteran keeper, Muzondiwa Gonese.

But Monomotapa's verve was cooled down two minutes later when City workhorse, Nathan Ziwini played a short corner to Madora who swung in a cross that was well timed by an alert Manondo.

The introduction of Ishmael Lawe for the disappointing Kuda Musharu could not pay off for Monoz as the former was the culprit four minutes from the final whistle, blasting wide after Gonese had spilled the ball in the box.

And Harare City hung on to grind another important triumph which also completed back to back victories over Monoz.
