Plot to unseat Dembare coach thickens

The Dynamos board of directors and the executive met Friday to iron out some in-house issues as the plot to unseat coach Kalisto Pasuwa thickens.
The board and executive have been sharply divided on the position of the three-time league champion, resulting in a number of underhand manoeuvres to sabotage the coach so that he is fired.
The divisions from the board and executive have cascaded down to the players, threatening to jeorpadise Dynamos' good start to the season. According to Dynamos insiders, a clique backed by board member Simon Sachiti and fronted by chairman Kenny Mubaiwa has been pushing for the ouster of Pasuwa, while the Bernard Marriot Lusengo camp is said to be the stumbling block as the latter is unequivocally in support of Pasuwa.
Club patron, Webster Shamu is also reportedly against changes in the technical department.
Mubaiwa feels the strike by players over allowances ahead of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) elections jeopardised his chances of winning the elections in which he was trounced by the incumbent Twine Phiri.
The Dynamos executive told the players that the team would not be going into camp ahead of the ZPC Kariba game, a match which they have since threatened to boycott until they get clarity over the issue of the Bob90 Super Cup bonuses and an increase on their winning bonuses.
The players argue that since they have been winning the league title for the past three years, their winning bonuses should be increased to $200 per match from the current $150.
The players are also not happy with the $18 000 they received for winning the Bob90 Super Cup, which is a far cry from the 70% they got for winning the same cup last season.
The players are also arguing that they want a new team manager since the incumbent Richard Chihoro is no longer representing them as he is taking the side of the executive.
"The whole idea behind this chaos is to make sure that Dynamos lose the match against ZPC Kariba so that pressure returns on Pasuwa. Actually, there are a whole lot of underhand manoeuvres to fire the coach because a lot of former players are also pushing Mubaiwa to get rid of Pasuwa as they feel he has become too powerful at the club after winning three consecutive league titles," a source close to proceedings at the club told The Zimbabwe Mail.
"The players also feel that the manager Richard Chihoro is no longer representing them as he is now pushing the executive's agenda. How can a big club like Dynamos say that can't afford lunch for players? They won against Harare City in the Independence Trophy semi-final on empty stomachs as the club failed to buy lunch when the players met in the morning. Some of the players are now being bribed so that they underperform all in an effort to sabotage Pasuwa.
"The players feel that after winning the league title three years in a row, they should be rewarded handsomely with an increase in winning bonuses but the club doesn't want to hear them. The players also feel that the money that the executive wants to give them for winning the Bob Super Cup is little."
When contacted for comment Dynamos secretary Webster Chikengezha said there was nothing amiss with the team not going into camp, but declined to elaborate on yesterday's meeting.
"Is there anything unusual for a club not to camp when they don't have the resources?" Chikengezha asked before hanging up the phone.
The alleged Sachiti-Mubaiwa camp, which is pushing for the ouster of Pasuwa, has been angling to have David Mandigora as coach assisted by Tonderai Ndiraya.
Other former Dynamos believed to be eyeing the job include Stanley Chirambadare, Elvis Chiweshe, Henry Chari, Misheck Chidzambwa and Simon Chuma.
It is alleged the group regularly meets at Raylton Sports Club in Harare with most of the former players and coaches believed to be jealous of Pasuwa's achievements in his short stint as the manager. However, a decision on Pasuwa's position could not be reached at yesterday's meeting as an influential board member was not present at the meeting and indications are that the issue would be finalised at another meeting on Monday.
