- Impressive fuel economy and comprehensive safety features offers excellent value to fleet owners
- Initial 160 of a scheduled 1 000 vehicles launched for new taxi scheme
The Chevrolet Aveo remains a popular choice among taxi cab fleet owners when it comes to safety and affordability. This became evident yet again when Intermotors, a division of CFAO Motors Nigeria Limited, recently supplied the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) of Nigeria, with a fleet of the Chevrolet Aveo 1.5L Sedans, as part of the new Abuja Taxi Scheme.
The Abuja Taxi Scheme kicked-off with an initial fleet of 160 Aveo vehicles, which will be deployed as the new official taxi cabs of the FCT following the ban on the use of old vehicles in the area. Further, this Scheme is an integral part of the FCT Transport policy, which seeks to introduce an efficient and regulated transportation system in the city.
The Chevrolet Aveo emerged as the preferred choice due to its tried, tested and trusted attributes experienced in other states in Nigeria where the Aveo is utilised for similar purposes. Keeping an Aveo on the road is also less expensive compared to most other cars in its segment and replacement parts are often less expensive than those of its competitors.
Much like the distinctive yellow taxi cabs in New York City, so the new blue and yellow Aveo taxi cabs of Abuja will become a widely recognized icon of the city. The Aveo characterises the Chevrolet mission of delivering on the promise of a car that is not just stylish, but functional and fun to drive as well. Excellent fuel efficiency, and a high level of safety, complete the package.
Ruth Mugugu, General Motors Communications Manager, Sub-Saharan Africa Export Markets, had the following to say, "We are making a determined effort to expand Chevrolet's presence on the African continent through our focused growth strategy. The Aveo has been very successful and is one of our top selling vehicles in Sub-Saharan Africa and also around the globe."
