Vivacious television personality Lindiwe Majoni has resurfaced after a long hiatus. She marked her return to the spotlight with a top-drawer performance as director of ceremonies at the Hair Show held last weekend at the Harare International Conference Centre (HICC).
Lindiwe rose to fame as a television presenter on ZTV and later on went to host her own talk show called "It Takes Two" that explored relationships.
She was also part of the inaugural Zimbabwe Music Awards ceremony in 2003.
Women Empowerment
She is back after a stint with the corporate world where she worked in senior managerial positions.
Lindiwe says she is working on a television show that champions health awareness issues and developmental topics that push women empowerment.
She returns to broadcasting armed with two masters degrees and she will apply the knowledge she attained to further her broadcasting career.
"I left broadcasting to further my studies and try a hand in the corporate world.
"I did that with success but I had to follow my passion – that is broadcasting," said Lindiwe.
Lindiwe is a holder of Social Studies degree from the University of Zimbabwe, an MBA from Esami University in Tanzania and a Masters in Development Studies from the Women's University in Zimbabwe.
In her corporate world stint, she worked as chief analyst for the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe and later joined TN Securities as chief operating officer.
Asked why she left the seemingly lucrative jobs she replied: "Like I said, it was driven by passion. I love broadcasting and I have interpersonal relations skills that help me even if I go on stage or on TV.
"I think I take after my father because I possess most of his behavioural traits."
Sky is the Limit
Although she is yet to come up with a name for her TV show, she said the thrust of the show is to encourage women to channel their energy towards positivity.
"Women must know that the sky is the limit and they must not imprison themselves through their thought patterns.
"The TV show will therefore push developmental issues and I believe broadcasting is a major medium to push my mission to change women's mindsets," she said.
Lindiwe is currently in talks with the national broadcaster and is mobilising resources for the TV show.
The mother of one grew up in Mt Pleasant and attended North Park Primary School and Vainona High where she was headgirl.
