SOUTH African crooner Ringo Madlingozi is expected in the country tomorrow evening for a performance at the Thank You Zimbabwe show on Friday at the Andy Millar Hall in Harare.
The award-winning vocalist, who is expected to share the stage with superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Winky D and Jah Prayzah, is scheduled to touch down at 2115hrs aboard a South African Airways flight.
One of the organisers of the show, Josh Hozheri, hailed the artiste as a great performer who is tried and tested.
Asked why the organisers chose Ringo ahead of other artistes, Hozheri said: "Ringo has always done well in the country and is a timeless performer and that is one reason for which we chose him."
He added that the fact that the South African star had recorded a duet with Mtukudzi was a bonus as people could relate to him and his offerings.
Hozheri reiterated on the essence of bringing foreign performers, but that people needed to stop experimenting at the expense of local audiences.
"Zimbabwean audiences are not dumb and cannot be taken for granted as some recent foreign artistes have shown. It is scary for any promoter to see the audience standing still during the performance of any main act," he said.
Ringo's duet with Tuku, Intoyami, which is a favourite for many, will definitely present one of the highlights, but it is the variety provided by Jah Prayzah and Winky D that makes the line-up more attractive.
The show will see the South African musician coming into the country to perform at what is expected to be the next big event since the highly-hyped, but dismal performance by Nigerian D'Banj during the recently held Lion Lager Summer Beer Festival.
The Nigerian was roundly criticised for his poor show after being billed as the top act.
