MULTI-AWARD winning musician Jah Prayzah has promised to "bring the house down" when he shares the stage with Winky D and Oliver Mtukudzi at Harare International Conference Centre this Saturday at The Sunday Mail Bridal Gala.
This will be Jah Prayzah and Winky D's first major outing following sojourns to the United Kingdom over the Easter holidays. Before the UK show, Winky D, also took his act to Asia.
All three artistes are no strangers to the HICC: they have individually filled the venue before, only this time they are coming together for the The Sunday Mail Bridal Gala.
The gob-smacking gig is expected to shift the gear up in a showbiz industry that is not showing signs of slowing down.
The artistes headlining the event are known to deliver top-of-the-range performances on any given day.
Winky D has consistently won Best Live Performance awards over the years, while Jah Prayzah has also received much recognition for his work on stage.
Tuku is celebrated internationally and he has wowed music lovers for decades.
The Bridal Gala will test the popularity of the Jah Prayzah-Winky D combination and fans who missed the two stars' performances during the Easter holiday will get a chance not only to catch-up, but also to be up-close with them in the heart of Harare.
Jah Prayzah's manager Keen Mushapaidze says The Sunday Mail Bridal Gala always propels the military-inspired ensemble to go the extra mile.
"The acts of the day are solid hence we will deliver our A-game and bring the house down on the day. Besides this is a big event that attracts a crowd that usually does not get to grace our weekly shows, therefore, we will deliver the best so that we leave lasting impressions, which will gently force them (attendees) to start regularly attending our shows in the future," says Mushapaidze.
Besides the above-mentioned artistes, they will also be some acts.
Sam Mataure, Tuku's manager, assures that the legend knows what is expected of him on the day, having been part of The Sunday Mail Bridal Gala before.
"Our international and local experience with similar events will come into play. We understand the audience that will be in attendance so we have carefully selected our playlist. Basically we are saying we will add glitz to the event," says Mataure.
Jonathan Banda, Winky D's manager, also promises the best from his camp.
"Winky D is a dynamic artiste who has managed to thrill all types of audiences. He will be at his usual best on the day of the event that promotes family values."
Every year thousands of couples give an arm and a leg to put together the best wedding ceremony they possibly can.
And The Sunday Mail, as the biggest weekly newspaper in the country and with strong family values, has been providing the opportunity for such people to share the biggest day of their lives with the rest of Zimbabwe.
The glamorous event has captured the imagination and attention of all through a well-planned programme.
Zimpapers business manager (marketing) Charity Gwata-Chirume says The Sunday Mail Bridal Gala is the biggest event of its kind in the country and organisers always put more than 100 percent to ensure it keeps on growing.
"Exciting programmes have been lined up for the show and we are encouraging people to come in their numbers. Tickets are already being sold and they are fast running out. Indications are the show will definitely be a success.
"… the ticket stub should be kept for a raffle draw that will be held on the night. A lucky couple will win a free wedding."
Gwata-Chirume urged people to come with their families.
"The Sunday Mail Bridal Gala is an annual event that has been gaining popularity and many families, every year, look forward to this event - so this is one event one must not miss."
Prior to the Gala, The Sunday Mail Bridal Expo will take centre stage on April 1 and 2 at Rainbow Towers Gardens next to HICC.
Apama Styles, Dino Mudondo, Jeffrey Jaka and Tambarimba Mbira Crew will provide entertainment at the Expo.
Entry for the Expo is free while US$10 will be charged for the Gala. Tickets are available at Herald House, Star FM Studios and Zimpapers' offices at Exhibition Park.
The long-running and ever-popular Bride and Cake of the Year contests provide an opportunity for scores of brides to have their weddings and cakes featured in the country's leading family and largest weekly newspaper.
The prize-giving ceremony starts at 6pm and will run up to 8pm, after which the music extravaganza will continue until late into the night.
"We will stick to the programme so we urge people to come on time. And please note complimentary tickets will become invalid after 7pm," adds Gwata-Chirume.
The winning bride will walk away US$1 000 richer while the first runner-up will receive US$800. The third-placed bride gets US$600. In the cake category, the winner, first runner-up and second runner-up will walk away with US$800, US$700 and US$600 respectively.
Apart from winning a free wedding voucher, one reader of The Sunday Mail, who has to be in attendance, will win a 32-inch LED TV.
Last year, Rudo Madzviti-Zenda was crowned Bride of the Year while Faith Mazorodze-Mufumi took second place and Tapiwa Bepe-Matyanga grabbed third spot.
Contestants for The Sunday Mail Bride of the Year competition are drawn from across the country.
Entries are collected weekly from recently wedded brides who submit their photographs and those their wedding cakes to The Sunday Mail.
