Zahara, Tuku show tonight at HICC

The posters are up, the stage is set and all that is left is for Zahara to arrive at the Harare International Airport today at midday. The "Loliwe" singer, who is headlining the show of the week at the Harare International Conference Centre, will be accompanied by a full band.
Zahara is billed to share the stage with superstar Oliver Mtukudzi, Alexio Kawara and the internationally acclaimed Afro-fusion group Mokoomba.
The last time Zahara was in Harare she left fans crying for more and hopefully this time around she will leave them satisfied.
Arguably, one of the most loved singers from across the Limpopo, Zahara's debut album has endeared her to fans across the continent especially in Zimbabwe after her hit with our own George Munetsi.
The two did a duet on "Incwad'encane" where veteran deejay-cum-musician George laced his Shona vocals over an addictive rhythm.
The song is a favourite of many and whenever she performs the track she moves the crowd.
It is not clear who will go on stage first, but it does not matter who starts the show rolling. If Tuku opens the show fans will obviously wait to see Zahara and if she goes on stage first then Tuku will be the cherry on top.
It really does not come any better than this.
Currently, Tuku is doing well with the singles "Watitsvata" and "Chiringa" off the latest album "Sarawoga".
On "Watitsvata", Tuku revisited the good all days of kwela music, but he does not lose that Tuku music style which many of his fans loved and enjoyed over the past decades.
At 60, with as many albums to his credit, Tuku never runs out of songs to play at any show. The show is one of his many farewell gigs before he embarks on a whirlwind tour of Europe and the United States.
Another exciting feature at the show is Alexio. Those not in the know have been debating whether or not Alexio was the right artiste to put on the bill. Well, the long and short of it is that Alexio was a perfect choice for more reasons than one.
Firstly, he plays with a live band. He has performed at high-profile gigs in and outside Zimbabwe and last, but not least, Alexio will always shine at any given opportunity.
While the organisers could have easily done with Zahara alone, it was important to include the local flavour to the show after all this is Zimbabwe, we party until its dawn.
So to keep the momentum, other performers include Mokoomba, a group which rose from humble beginnings to become one of the most sought-after bands in the country.
Mokoomba has been doing big things outside Zimbabwe where they have performed at international stages and sold-out concerts. The group is climbing high with their latest album "Rising Tide" which is a feel-good album.
One of the promoters of the show, Chris Musabayana, was confident that the gig will live up to its billing.
"There is going to be tight security, full bar and catering for the VIPs. We want to urge fans to come early to avoid last minute rush at the gates," he said.
