Residents of Queens Park West suburb in Bulawayo are reportedly living in fear of a violent ghost which manifests itself in a pair of trousers. It is reported that the pair of trousers waits for its prey under the tree right outside the house of a former businessman and pounces on anyone who uses the path after midnight.

The residents believe that the house is haunted as it was mysteriously burnt down three years ago during the day. A reliable source said: "We are now living in fear of the trousers ghost which has attacked a number of people who pass in front of that yard anytime after 11pm."

The source said what baffled residents is that there is no valid logical explanation for what sparked the fire except insinuations that the house was haunted.

"Residents have resorted to using other roads when coming from sports bar at night," said a man only identified as Khuzwayo.

Another victim who spoke on condition of anonymity said: "I was walking alone at around 12 midnight. When I was passing the big tree I felt as if someone was following me and when I checked I saw just a black pair of trousers with no body. When I was still looking around, the trousers slapped me across the face and it then started assaulting me all over the body. I ran for my dear life and when I told my family they never believed me as they thought I was drunk on the night in question," said the victim.

He revealed that his family only bought his story when a number of residents were complaining of the trousers that had 'bashed them' as well. Vendors at Queens Park shops confirmed the bloodcurdling incident saying that the trousers issue was not new to them and a number of residents have met the same  fate.

"The streets are not safe anymore and we are afraid of prolonging our stay when visiting our neighbours because of the trousers. The trousers ghost is suspected to be staying in that house which was burnt down some years ago. Residents who were once victims are reluctant to take the matter up to the authorities in fear of being labeled as crazy," said Osmos Munombe.

John Mugodo, the owner of the alleged haunted house where the trousers operates in front of said: " I used to own a funeral parlour before I became sick and I have never heard of what you are saying except if the matter has been kept a secret. The spot which is said to be haunted is opposite a bush and maybe an innocent which was robbed is on the revenge vengeance spree."

The residents said what scared them the most was that authorities rubbish such incidents and that their plea will never be heard.
