A 34-year-old man is facing legal consequences after allegedly assaulting his ex-wife with a metal bicycle pump upon discovering she had moved on.
Mukolobetsi Phuti appeared in Plumtree Magistrates Court on Friday, pleading not guilty to the assault charge before Magistrate Joshua Nembaware. Phuti was remanded in custody until June 12.
According to Prosecutor Selestine Madziwa, on May 25, Phuti forced his way into his ex-wife's home at midnight, grabbed her cellphone, and found pictures of her with her current boyfriend.
The assault ceased when the ex-wife began bleeding from her head, prompting a police report and subsequent arrest.
