Conman saved by victim from the wrath

BULAWAYO - A 45-year-old Lobengula man who appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Gladmore Mushove charged with fraud was saved from the wrath of the law last Thursday after the complainant accepted an apology and refund.
Amos Mutasa pleaded guilty to fraud for conning a woman of $60.
The magistrate withdrew the case after the complainant asked the court to do so saying Mutasa had apologised and refunded her the money.
The Court heard that on June 8 at 12:30pm the complainant Redeem Maviva of Nketa 9 in Bulawayo was at corner 8th Avenue and Fife Street when she met Mutasa.
She saw a number of US dollar notes on the ground which were picked up by Mutasa while she was looking on.
Mutasa told Maviva that they should go and share the money.
They then went to a secluded place at Samuel Parirenyatwa Street and 8th Avenue where they were joined by another man who claimed to be a police officer (not identified). The man told them that they were under arrest.
Mutasa asked Maviva to give him all her money - $60 - which he took and ran away with. Maviva later identified Mutasa while at corner 12th Avenue and Main Street and reported him to the police, leading to his arrest.
